Earthenware Mould
Made by WOOD & CALDWELL
Unglazed earthenware intaglio mould. Impressed mark WOOD & CALDWELL on the back. Width approx 7cm. Image on the title page of "A Collector's History of English Pottery" by Griselda Lewis, published 1969. I understand that this mould would have been used in the factory as the master mould from which working moulds would have been made. The working moulds would have been used to put the raised patterns onto the end product produced for customers.
